Yellowknife is choosing a new mayor, eight city councillors and two school boards on Monday. Polls open at 10am and close at 7pm, which is when Cabin Radio’s live results show starts.

Cabin Radio reporters Ollie Williams, Emily Blake, Sarah Pruys, Claire McFarlane and Eshana Gohil bring you coverage from across the city until late in the evening, including results and reaction. Listen live on the Cabin Radio homepage or via the Cabin app.

On-air guests include former mayors Ben Hendriksen and Mark Heyck alongside former city manager Sheila Bassi-Kellett.

You can vote at any of these polling stations:

  • Weledeh Catholic School
  • Tree of Peace Friendship Centre
  • École Įtłʼǫ̀
  • Multiplex
  • Range Lake North School

The city says transit to voting stations is free and transit will run an hour later than usual to help people vote.

Results arrived at about 9:30pm in 2022, the last time Yellowknife held a municipal election. This year, Elections NWT is involved and some aspects of voting are significantly different (much of the 2022 vote was carried out by mail, one of several Covid-related protocols). That means the results could arrive earlier, although it’s hard to pin down exactly when.

The new mayor and council will be sworn in on November 2.
