Elections NWT says a by-election has been scheduled for November 24 to fill the Inuvik Twin Lakes seat in the territorial legislature vacated by Lesa Semmler.
Semmler resigned as an MLA and health minister in mid-September, stating “it is time for a new chapter.”
Her departure was unusual in that it came only a year from the next territorial election.
Inuvik Twin Lakes voters are encouraged to register, confirm their voter information and study the voting options for the November 24 by-election, Elections NWT said in a Friday news release. Information for voters and prospective candidates is available on Elections NWT’s website.
Nominations open on October 26, early voting begins on November 3, and election day voting will run from 9am till 8pm.
