Crews remediating Giant Mine could be blasting just outside Yellowknife until mid-December, the project team managing the work says.
Blasting for quarry rock is happening a few kilometres north of the city near the Ingraham Trail.
That blasting began in mid-October, the Giant Mine Remediation Project said in a notice issued on Tuesday, “and could extend to mid-December.”
Expect delays of up to 10 minutes around kilometre four of Highway 4, the notice stated.
Giant Mine is the toxic site of a former gold mine that is now a $4-billion federally led remediation project.
