Habitat for Humanity NWT’s Dave Hurley says handing a home to a Yellowknife family is “the perfect Christmas present.”

Hurley, Habitat’s president in the NWT, passed the keys to Jean-Claude Ouellette-Landry and partner Morgan Ranseth at a ceremony on Wednesday.

Ouellette-Landry, Ranseth and their three children put in 500 hours of labour alongside family and friends as part of the deal, which sees them paying an affordable mortgage for the property – located on Hershman Road.

The building work took roughly half a year to complete, with help from various Yellowknife residents and businesses.
