RCMP say an incident in Tsiigehtchic that led the community to declare a lockdown has been resolved.
The community’s acting senior administrator reported a gun threat on Tuesday morning, telling residents to stay indoors.
An RCMP spokesperson told Cabin Radio officers had been dispatched to Tsiigehtchic – which does not have its own detachment – “and a person was taken into custody without incident.”
In a news release issued after this article was first published, RCMP said that while a report of a “potential firearms threat” triggered a lockdown, Fort McPherson officers were “able to quickly locate the subject of complaint.” No injuries were reported.
“This matter remains under investigation and additional information is not available at this time,” RCMP stated.
“The Fort McPherson RCMP would like to thank the community of Tsiigehtchic for their quick response to this evolving situation.”
