Western Arctic Moving Pictures and the City of Yellowknife will try again to hold a drive-in movie night in late September after their last attempt was cancelled.

A clash with a travelling carnival meant a drive-in night planned for Friday, August 30 had to be scrapped.

The two events would have been operating from adjacent sections of the same parking lot, which organizers ultimately decided would leave them too close for comfort.

On Friday, Wamp said it had identified a new date.

“We are back for September 27 and will have the films confirmed very soon,” Wamp’s Bran Ramsey said by email.

The films selected for the August 30 event were Lilo & Stitch and The Fifth Element.

Ramsey previously told Cabin Radio organizers had originally picked six films in the hope of running three separate drive-in nights, but the August lineup had proved sufficiently popular – the event rapidly sold out before it was cancelled – that there’s a chance the same films roll over to September.
