Organizers of the NWT’s Biomass Week have promised a schedule to “fuel your mornings daily” at the end of January.

The schedule, publicized this week, features online sessions from 8:45-11:30am each day between Monday, January 27 and Friday, January 31.

Biomass Week, a fixture for several years in the territory, is designed to explore how biomass could be used to help communities move away from diesel and toward more reliance on a cleaner form of energy.

The Arctic Energy Alliance and Wood Pellet Association of Canada, which are organizing the week, said the week of presentations offered “an opportunity for pellet producers, equipment manufacturers, installers, regulators, researchers, academia, governments and others to learn more about how biomass is transforming the way we think about energy.”

Themed sessions include the advantages of biomass in the North, case studies from existing installations, an exploration of district heating, and how biomass supports forest health.

The final session on January 31 explores combined heat and power, or CHP – the process by which a fuel like biomass can be used to deliver electricity and heat at the same time.

You can see the full agenda on the Wood Pellet Association of Canada’s website. Registration is free and all events take place online via Teams.
