After some construction delays, Yellowknife’s new Wok Box says it is on track to begin operations by the end of August.
First announced in May, the Asian-inspired fast food restaurant had originally aimed for a June opening. It is located inside uptown Yellowknife’s Center Ice Plaza.
Franchise operator Shez Khan said this week the team is awaiting an operating permit, which will be acquired following an inspection from the City of Yellowknife.
An opening date will be confirmed once the paperwork is completed.
“When it comes to construction, most of our work is done. We have also ordered our first inventory,” Khan told Cabin Radio.
“Inventory includes produce items that get spoiled quickly. We placed an order to begin our training, which will last two weeks.”
Wok Box has hired 22 staff members, who will work in shifts of eight or nine people at a time.
