An Arctic Summit focusing on sovereignty and investment will be held in Whitehorse this coming February.

The summit, hosted by the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Yukon, will bring together leaders, policymakers and investors from Northern Canada, Alaska and Greenland.

“Key outcomes from Arctic Summit 2026 include the formation of new business-to-business and government-to-business relationships, acceleration of pan-northern infrastructure and trade initiatives, advancement of regional security and economic resilience and mobilization of investment aligned with northern values and priorities,” a Yukon government news release stated.

The summit also aims to strengthen cross-border relationships and feature Indigenous-led economic models and governance frameworks.

The three-day event runs from February 23 to 25, and will also include a free public day and Arctic Expo at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre on February 24.

Organizers said at a time when geopolitical tensions are rising and countries are increasingly interested in economic opportunities in the Arctic, the summit will help strengthen partnerships, sovereignty, investment in infrastructure, industry and community.

“This summit is not just timely, it is essential,” former Yukon premier turned economic development minister Ranj Pillai was quoted as saying.

“When we bring together leaders from the circumpolar world to confront geopolitical realities, we are not only advancing northern participation in the security and defence industries, but we are strengthening our collective ability to shape a stable and resilient Arctic future.”

Registration for the summit will open in October.
