If students are temporarily living outside their home community for schooling but are still residents, they are eligible to apply.

“As part of the application, students are asked to share their educational or personal goals, challenges they have overcome, successes they are proud of, and the role they see for themselves in building skills and contributing to the local contracting sector,” explained a news release about the scholarships.

Applications are being managed through the Yellowknife Community Foundation and will be accepted until midnight on November 14.

Parsons started the scholarship program in 2017, the same year the company began its role as lead construction manager of the Giant Mine remediation project.

The goal of the program has been to help students studying in areas related to the remediation of contaminated sites.

Since the scholarship was initiated, nine Indigenous students have received financial support.
