A Yellowknife man is facing assault charges after threatening a security guard with a knife in a downtown apartment building on Thursday.
Shortly after noon, RCMP received a report a security guard had been attacked, though the guard was able to escape uninjured.
Police and police dog Rain responded and located the suspect, 30-year-old Jonathan Sabourin, inside the apartment.
Sabourin was “uncooperative,” police allege, but say he was safely apprehended with the help of Rain.
RCMP believe the knife used in the assault was recovered.
Sabourin has also been charged with failing to comply with a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing before being remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 23.
