The City of Yellowknife is inviting food truck operators to apply for the annual draw that decides who gets the best downtown spaces.
Rewind to 2019 and you needed an entire hand to count the NWT capital’s food trucks, making the lottery a meaningful exercise that helped determine which meals on wheels would arrive on which downtown corner.
More recently, numbers have dipped to just one or two trucks, although last year appeared to mark a modest revitalization of the sector.
This year’s food truck lottery draw takes place on Friday, May 22 at 11am inside City Hall’s council chamber.
Getting your food truck licence earns you automatic entry as long as you do it by Friday, May 15.
“The order in which vendors choose their assigned parking locations will be determined by the lottery. All selections are final and may not be changed once made,” the city stated.

Outside Cabin Radio is a prime location. Just saying.
