The NWT government rejected the Union of Northern Workers' suggestion that removal of specialized Covid-19 leave for staff breaks their collective agreement.

The Union of Northern Workers says it will fight the NWT government's decision to stop offering a dedicated form of paid leave to employees who have Covid-19.
A Covid-19 outbreak involving less than 20 cases has been declared at Stanton Territorial Hospital. There are currently no immediate service reductions.
The NWT will begin offering a fourth dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 to more people and is planning to introduce a new vaccine option, Novavax.
Not required in the NWT from Friday: masks, isolation after travel, isolation with Covid-19. Those are still recommendations but are no longer backed by law.
The NWT will on Thursday brief reporters on April 1's ending of the public health emergency. Even so, the territory chose to hold the briefing virtually.
