Aurora College says its fees for the 2024-25 academic year are going up, in some cases by as much as 40 percent.

Most post-secondary programs at the college will now cost $2,520 per term, up from $1,800 per term in recent years. The fee per course will be $510, up from $365.

The college said the increases come “in response to rising costs” and remain within the sums provided to students by the NWT’s Student Financial Assistance program. Caps for SFA funding were increased by the territorial government last summer.

According to a Tuesday news release from the college, this is the first time its tuition fees have increased since the 2018-19 academic year.

“International student tuition fees will continue to be three times the cost of domestic student tuition,” the college stated.

“Aurora College’s Student Services team works with students to access additional resources, such as scholarships and bursaries.

“Historically, approximately 75 percent of Aurora College students are funded by SFA and most others received funding from other educational funders such as Indigenous governments and agencies or other Canadian student assistance programs.”

Other fee changes publicized on Tuesday include a cost of $2,665 per term for the Environment and Natural Resources Technology Diploma and $2,665 for the final term of a student’s fourth year in the Bachelor of Nursing program.
