The Dene Nation says its rescheduled national assembly will now be held in Fort Good Hope, Radįlįh Kóe from January 20-22, 2026.
The 2024 assembly was moved from Fort Good Hope because of wildfires, then the 2025 assembly was scheduled for September but moved when fires elsewhere became a priority.
Postponing the assembly last month, the Dene Nation said at the time it was committed “to supporting emergency response efforts and ensuring that resources are directed where they are most needed.”
On Thursday, the Dene Nation published new dates and reaffirmed that Fort Good Hope will be the host community.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding as we walk together in unity,” the Dene Nation stated.
“This significant event will bring together leaders, Elders, and community members from across the Dene Nation to discuss and strategize on key issues affecting their people and lands.
“The Dene National Assembly serves as a vital platform for the Dene people to unite, share knowledge, and strengthen their collective voice. It is an opportunity to celebrate their rich cultural heritage, Dene rights, and chart a course for the future.”
More details about the agenda and registration will follow in the coming weeks, the Dene Nation stated.
